The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (DKNVS), in partnership with Trøndelag Sparebank, is establishing a new sustainability award for young people in Trøndelag. We now invite nominations. Nominations for the award are now open!
The DKNVS Sustainability Award for Young People celebrates young people in Trøndelag whose knowledge, initiative and practical efforts contribute to a more sustainable society. The recipient will receive NOK 100,000, presented at DKNVS’s annual ceremonial gathering in Trondheim in spring 2027.
About the award
Sustainable development requires us to meet social and economic needs while respecting the limits of the natural world. Through this award, DKNVS seeks to recognise young people who turn that ambition into meaningful, practical action.
Eligibility
The award is open to individuals and groups who:
- are between 13 and 22 years of age
- have undertaken the majority of their work in Trøndelag
- have played a substantial and demonstrable role in the work
- have carried out an initiative within the past three years, or developed a solution expected to generate significant positive impact within the next three years
You may nominate someone else or submit a nomination on your own behalf. Deadline: 1st of November 2026.
What do we look for?
We recognise that sustainability encompasses environmental, social and economic dimensions. Candidates may work primarily within any of these areas, provided that their work also takes environmental considerations into account.
Relevant contributions might include:
- innovative solutions, services or products
- research or other projects grounded in knowledge and evidence
- initiatives within schools, local communities, voluntary associations or other organisations
- new approaches to inclusion, more responsible use of resources, or the protection of nature and local communities
In assessing nominations, particular attention will be paid to:
- the results achieved
- the demonstrated or anticipated contribution to sustainability
- how knowledge has been developed or applied
- the nominee’s own role and contribution
